History of our Salted Caramel Pretzel

Our Salted Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream began when WHYY, the local PBS station in Philadelphia, asked viewers to come up with a new flavor of ice cream. The winning flavor was submitted by Sean O'Halloran of Oreland, PA, and named the WHYY Experience. The idea was to be a collective of treats you'd find in the Philadelphia area....Butterscotch swirl represented Tastykake's iconic Krimpet, chocolate covered pretzels representing the Pennsylvania Dutch, and the classic vanilla ice cream of Bassetts Ice Cream. We later added a little salt to the butterscotch and re-named the flavor Salted Caramel Pretzel to be more self-descriptive of what was in it! This is our most popular flavor on Goldbelly, which delivers to anywhere in mainland USA, can be found in China, South Korea, and Taiwan. This flavor carries with it the weight of representing the sweet tastes of Philadelphia....and does it quite well!
